So my mom got a flat today in her tahoe. Keep in mind its the 07+ years. Simple deal right? Ill grab a few tools, and it will be changed in a jiffy. Well chevy in their infinite wisdom decide its of extreme importance to have your spare tire secured with multiple layers of incomprehensible extraction protection....

Kinja'd!!!

So after an hour of reading the manual, at least 3 times, pulling out all the tools, i cant bloody figure it out. So a mechanic friend comes. 45 minutes of him going over it, we only get past the first layer of how to release the spare tire. We call AAA. And low and behold they cant get it either! They dont know how. So on the flatbed the hoe goes, and off to mechanic friends shop, where they end up looking up the proper procedure to extract the spare.

Chevy, i understand you want to make the spare tire difficult to be stolen. BUT there is a fine line between protection and extreme hassle. How is one in the wild suppose to change one of these stupid things by themselves. Your manual is not very clear in the instructions. And the in text photos dont help at all. Also the included jack is well, jack. its bs.

I think ill go scower youtube and the forums to see if there is a way to delete this stupid theft protection BS. A wheel change should not be difficult!

Incidents like this is why i feel it was a good decision to invest in a full second set of wheels and tires.

Stanced tahoes dont look so bad now do they.

Good night oppo!
